The success and strength of the Music Program is due mostly to the exceptional job done by the Music Director,
Paul J. Calcari. His hard work, and dedication to the students is what inspires us to do what we can to support the music
program. Paul (Mr. C) does a wonderful job inspiring the students to do the best that they can. His high expectations of his
students has resulted in several Gold and Silver Medal awards at the MICCA (Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors
Association) music festivals, which have afforded the students the opportunity to perform at both Tanglewood and
Boston Symphony Hall. Because of his abilities as a music educator, Paul has been able to bring several world-class
composers and educators to Greenfield to run clinics for his students.
As parents and supporters of this wonderful music program, we try to provide whatever is needed to keep
the music program at this exceptional level. Our belief is that a strong music program in the school benefits the students
in all of their academic areas. A strong music program can also serve to attract students from other areas to Choice-In to
Greenfield schools, thus improving the overall quality of the entire school program.
The Music Parents Association supports the music program in many ways. One of our major jobs is fundraising
to provide equipment and educational opportunities for the students and the Music Department. Here is a list of some of the
things we help with:
* Purchasing new uniforms
* Repair and cleaning of uniforms
* Purchasing new instruments * Instrument repairs * Sheet music * Cost of transportation to events *
Music festivals * Music education opportunities
* Music stands
